What does Apple MFI certification mean?

Apple introduced the Lightning cable in 2012 for charging and syncing their latest iPhones, iPads and iPods. Third party companies, such as talmo, are licensed to sell Lightning cables that are certified by Apple, guaranteeing that they operate at a standard equal to original Apple Lightning cables.


Why are MFI Lightning cables different and how does this affect our price?

The hardware inside each of our Lightning connectors is manufactured exclusively by Apple. This hardware contains an authentication chip that tells your device that the cable is Apple MFi Certified and charges your iOS device without damaging it. You may notice a warning message on your phone when a non-MFi cable is detected. While this makes our cable a little more costly than the generic cables you can find online, you can rest assured that it will not damage the charging chips of your iOS device.


What is the MFI certification for?

MFi certification allows third-party hardware accessories that use Apple's MFi licensed technology to connect electronically to iPhone, iPad, iPod and Apple Watch. You may already be familiar with some MFi licensed technology, such as:

- HomeKit
- Apple Watch Magnetic Charging  - Module
- Lightning and 30-pin connectors
- AirPlay
- CarPlay


Is talmo an MFI certified manufacturer?

While not itself an MFi certified manufacturer, talmo designs and sources MFi Lightning cables from an MFi Manufacturing Licensee. The Manufacturing Licensee is authorised to manufacture goods for talmo and takes responsibility to meet all of Apple’s standards on talmo’s behalf.


Verifying authorised MFi Manufacturing Licensees and Licensed Accessories

Once a Lightning accessory has met MFi self-certification requirements and is reported to Apple as being distributed by the manufacturer, it is listed in a freely searchable authorised MFi accessories database.


How does the testing and approval procedure work?

During the approval process, cables are submitted to Apple's independent testing facility to undergo mechanical, stress and electrical tests. Additionally, every single cable we produce is tested twice during production to make sure there are no defects and that every cable meets both talmo and Apple MFI quality standards.

Do I have to pay VAT?

All orders that are shipped within the European Union will be invoiced including VAT, as well as the shipping cost.

Shipping & Returns

How are talmo products shipped?

All orders are sent with our fulfillment partner byrd. Each order has its own tracking number which you will receive via email after purchase.


Where do you ship to?

We ship to most European countries: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech, Republic Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Gibraltar, Greece, Holy See (Vatican City State), Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg,Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom.


All our products are shipped from Berlin.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping within Germany is free. For all european orders to Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg, France, United Kingdom, Italy and Spain shipping costs will be 5,90 EUR. Shipping costs for other countries start at around 9,90 EUR.


How long will it take to arrive?

Orders within Germany, submitted by 1pm are likely to be delivered the next business day. In general, delivery time within Germany is 1-2 business days. The estimated delivery time for Europe is 2-4 business days and outside of Europe, 3-5 business days with. On rare occasions, the packages may arrive outside of the estimated timeframe.


What about customs?

Customers living in a EU country don’t have to pay import or customs fees. The EU is a customs union, meaning that no duties are collected among the member countries.


Can I cancel my order?

Once an order is placed, it is passed on to our warehouse facility automatically for packing and shipping. As soon as an order is packed, the process cannot be cancelled. However, there is a very limited time frame in which an order can be cancelled or changed. If you want to cancel your order, please contact us quickly with your order number at hand.


Can I return an item?

We accept all returns within 30 days of purchase. In order to be eligible for a full refund the item must be undamaged, unused and returned with its original packaging. To request a return please get in touch at Please also fill out the formula in the revocation information. You will find further information in our Terms & Conditions. If the item you have received does not match the one you ordered or if it is damaged or defective, please contact us within 30 days of receipt and we will do our best to find a solution. You will have to pay for the return shipment cost. We will provide you with the shipping address for returns.


When will I get my money back?

The processing of returns takes between 7-14 days after we receive the item. Once your return is checked and approved, it will be processed and the purchase price will be reimbursed. You will receive a confirmation e-mail notifying you of the reimbursement. Depending on your financial institution, it may take a few business days for the refund to be displayed in your account.


How does the warranty service work?

talmo provides a six (6) month warranty. If you wish to make a warranty claim within this period, you need to provide proof of purchase and the faulty item. Just follow these steps:


If you bought at a retailer, you have to make your Warranty Claim there. Please bring your defective talmo product and your original receipt

If you bought at our online web-shop, please contact our Customer Service. Once your complaint is with us we will contact you regarding how to proceed
